ABS-CBN Unveils the New Logo (from 2000) before resumed the ABS-CBN's Worldwide Celebration of the New Millennium

The Revelation of the 2000 ABS-CBN Logo

On January 1, 2000, ABS-CBN draws the biggest metropolitan and nationwide audience welcoming Year 2000, eighth year of the third millennium by popular belief, with a special live marathon worldwide broadcast THE GRAND ABS-CBN WORLDWIDE CELEBRATION OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM. The network's top-rating broadcast includes 4 network-sponsored dusk-to-dawn millennium parties at Rizal Park, The Fort, Quezon Memorial Circle and Alabang Town Center and live coverage of millennium midnight celebrations all over Metro Manila, across the Philippines and around the world.

Before the Watching the Broadcast the Posters from the daily Newspapers (from December 30-31, 1999):

Hosted by Roderick Paulate and Amy Perez are used on the Newspapers.

Throughout the usage of the 1986 logo, ABS-CBN had not only enjoyed success in broadcasting, but also rapidly transformed itself into a multimedia conglomerate. So, in 1999, ABS-CBN made a corporate decision to redesign its logo to meet the current demands and to respond with the then fast approaching new millennium. However, ABS-CBN also decided to retain its symbol (as the network noticed that the symbol had become one of the most recognizable and identifiable in the country), and give it a total redesign.

It took a few months to design the new logo, which was developed in-house until finally, on January 1, 2000, with the dawn of the new millennium, the new logo was unveiled. The logo, in extreme contrast to the previous logo, is considerably more "modern-styled". The reason for the retaining of its famous symbol despite the new design, according to ABS-CBN, was because changing its logo for the new millennium was a matter of "keeping the basics" which meant keeping its now historic symbol.

The previous logo, which featured the stylized Malayan letters and a box with three concentric circles and a line gave way to this logo's styling. Foremost, the three RGB circles and black vertical line were retained. Also, the text was given the biggest redesign, as it was modified to a more modern Rotis-like typeface and the box, which was part of the logo since 1967, was replaced with a flat grey/white crystal plane (on the 2D version, the plane appears as a 2D grey square, and on some uses of the logo, the square is nowhere to be seen).

The logo greatly departs itself from the previous logo not only in terms of design but also in terms of representation, because compared to the previous logo, which limited its representation of ABS-CBN as only a radio-TV network and the largest media network in the country, the 2000 logo changed its representation of ABS-CBN from being just a radio and television broadcasting network into a unified representation of ABS-CBN being a multi-media conglomerate. This type of representation would soon be passed on to ABS-CBN's 2013 logo.

A new slogan was launched to coincide with the new logo's unveiling, entitled "Out Of The Box...Into The New Millennium" (the slogan also used to celebrate the new millennium). The reason for the unveiling of the "Out of the Box" slogan, is to represent that ABS-CBN (because of its transformation from a radio-TV network to a total media conglomerate) and its logo (because it has replaced its box with a crystal plane) have indeed, gone "out of the box".

Along with this, the company also launched new theme music to replace the theme music used since the network's relaunch as The Star Network. In 2003, during the television station's 50th anniversary, ABS-CBN launched its present brand name, "Kapamilya" (literally means "a member of the family").

Although the 2000 logo of ABS-CBN is interpreted as a new logo, it can also be interpreted as a new millennium redesign of ABS-CBN's previous logo.

This logo will be completely discontinued on December 31, 2013, and will be replaced by the new 2013 logo on the following day (a similar thing done by this logo when it replaced the 1986 logo of ABS-CBN), or in some cases, might be still used, this time as a secondary logo.

The New Logo Revelation

After the ABS-CBN Countdown to 2000 special entitled "ABS-CBN Worldwide Celebration of The New Millennium", a plug called the "Millennium Overture", aired at 12:00 m.n. on Saturday, January 1, 2000.

The first scene featured all the past logos and station ID's (along with the Sarimanok) of ABS-CBN on flying television screens landing on a dark space.

The First Scene featured the Past logos of ABS-CBN
Later, a portal screen with the 1986 symbol lands on the center and transports the viewers to the same space, and displays the 1986 ABS-CBN logo for one last time. Then, a flying light floats across the 1986 symbol, signifying the beginning of the construction a new logo.

In the reconstruction, the ABS and CBN names start to morph into a newer ABS-CBN text with a more modern typography (Gotham Font) in front of a revolving translucent cube.

Then, the translucent cube stops revolving, and the rings land on the translucent cube (which is actually a crystal plane), and is then joined by the text and line in creating the new logo, and the slogan "In The Service Of The Filipino", now in Rotis Semi Serif font, and a white line between the logo and slogan, soon appears afterwards.

The Unveiling the ABS-CBN Logo

But, the millennium celebrations celebrated nationwide and worldwide,  that at Rizal Park even with its crowd of 300,000 led by President Estrada and his family and his Cabinet.

Network has new logo

As announced by network chair Eugenio Lopez III during ABS-CBN's Millennium Day Broadcast, ABS-CBN now has a new corporate logo. After making the first steps 46 years ago toward a Philippine Television Industry, ABS-CBN has diversified into other entertainment and information-related ventures, and its products and content are now available to Filipinos in many parts of the world. Indeed, ABS-CBN has gone, so to speak out of the box.

Changing the look of one of most identifiable corporate symbols in the country was a matter of keeping the basics. ABS-CBN's corporate logo retains the vertical line representing the transmitter tower, signifying the network's core business of broadcasting. The three rings which used to stand only for the Philippines' three major islands clusters, now again new meaning as they now represent the network's presence in the lives of Filipinos elsewhere in the world.

The original black square frame symbolizing balance and stability assumes an added dimension through its transformation to a crystal plane, denoting the network's continued dynamism and synergistic ventures as cinema, recording and E-commerce.

The typography of the network's call letters has likewise been updated to a modified Rotis typeface for a simple, modern and contemporary look attuned to the new millennium. Finally, the fusion of the network's call letters into a single line symbolizes the company's unified vision and graphically, ABS-CBN's bottom line of being In the Service of the Filipino wherever he may be.

The millions of people joined in Ayala Center for the start
of the Millenial party
It was a world-class production marked by fireworks display every 15 minutes at the four corners of Ayala Center.
When the clock hit 12 on the official millennium Swatch clock beside the stage, the hushed crowd suddenly burst into jubilant singing, shouting and dancing. Confetti rained down on Ayala and more fireworks enthralled. The Ayala celebration started with a big bang when close to a hundred boys and girls entered the giant stage carrying torches. They were dressed in gold and silver. They were joined by the Madrigal Singers. Then, without introduction, pop icon Gary Valenciano ran toward the stage to perform.
The stage vibrated with excitement as giant laser beams projected from behind the stage all the way to the sky.

Aside from Valenciano, it was Kuh Ledesma who mesmerized the crowd with her singing of ''Ako ay Pilipino.''

This was followed by other entertainment numbers by the Apo Hiking Society, Janno Gibbs, KC Montero, Ara Mina, Dingdong Dantes, Vernie Varga, Billy Crawford, Side A, Jaya, Sunshine Cruz, Angelica, Lanie Misalucha, Regine and Kakay Velasquez, The Eraserheads, among others.

Seedings for the 2014 Fifa World Cup

Seeding for the draw is based on the October 2013 version of the FIFA World Ranking.[3] Although the November 2013 rankings were the most current at the time of the final draw, the usage of those rankings would advantage those teams who had played additional play-off matches in order to qualify.[4] Brazil were not among the top eight seeded teams at the time but, in keeping with usual FIFA World Cup procedure, were seeded by virtue of being the host nation.[5] The top seven teams in the October 2013 FIFA World Ranking filled the remaining seeded positions.
